The basis of the fight against extreme poverty that threatens thousands of indigenous peoples is based on the recognition of land rights. Not a right to private property, but as a good community to live in harmony.

This year has started collecting seed for several years to recognize the rights claimed by indigenous peoples internationally. Topics such as self-determination, the welfare of the people through respect for ancestral lands, health and human rights are no longer the monopoly of men "civilized" in the framework of the modern state. "

Mirna Cunningham, an indigenous woman, a doctor and former rector of the Regional University of the Caribbean Coast of Nicaragua, United Nations presented in the report embodies years of effort and laying the foundation for thousands of indigenous peoples around the world to maintain its identity and survival.

These people have got a permanent international forum to participate and become agents of their own destiny. They managed to adopt the Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples, which may serve civil society, States and indigenous peoples ancestral to lay a foundation of coexistence that allows for dialogue and mutual enrichment.

The struggle for the welfare and poverty eradication are the main goals of many indigenous peoples decimated by disease, marginalization and uprooted to themselves of the separation from their land by means of rehousing.

Modern globalization threatens the survival of these peoples, often settled on land "strategic" for the extraction of natural resources that fuel the development model of the market economy. Avatar
The film addresses these relocations with violence to which many governments around the world have resorted to robbing coveted commodities in the markets. Unable to qualify as "entities" separated from the land they live, many people have rejected the offer "peaceful" relocation provided by their governments, pressured by large multinational companies control the market of raw materials and international trade.

Thus emerged a political tinged violence in which indigenous leaders accused of "leftist subversives" and saboteurs "development" of "nation." In recent years, it has been known to use extreme violence against indigenous peoples in Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Rwanda, Burundi, Uganda, Belgian Congo, Brazil, Colombia, in the Lacandon Jungle in Mexico and other countries. In some cases, international tribunals have been raised in the case of genocide in order to eliminate entire peoples to "stand" in the career of "development."

The relocations have broken the link with the natural environment around them. They ate the fruit of the land to which they belong (not conceive that the land may belong to the man) got their medicine plants majors now patented, in the land were a spiritual link with their ancestors through rituals initiation. Not only have been uprooted, but suffer impoverishment and food security threat to be where "no are "and on land not usually give the same results.

To survive, millions of people are forced to migrate to large cities, the first step towards extreme poverty, the loss of their roots, their feeding habits and seeking the balance and well being of the community. The world loses the richness that cultural diversity and represent the traditions of many indigenous peoples, forced to work as slaves on land that formerly belonged to and who are now in the hands of landowners because they say some scriptures.

Community law recognition of indigenous peoples to land these factors mitigate impoverishment plus you could encourage small trade surpluses and be part of the chain.

balance protecting the livelihood of many people. Maintains the link with the land, which is the basis of their survival. The modern man can learn that you can live with less, and without harming the planet, which depends on sustainable development in times of environmental disasters and financial earthquake models blind speculation. For this reason, indigenous peoples are calling for a dialogue from the United Nations.
