About Nobel Prizes , do you have noticed that there is no Nobel prize in Math? I imagine some of you at some point will have wondered why. For I tell you a little history. Nobel Prizes are provided to people who excel in some areas because they make important contributions to society. Delivered in Stockholm each year, on December 10, when he died Alfred Nobel . So mathematicians have a prize, say equivalent to the Nobel for mathematicians, the Fields Medal , which is awarded every four years to one or several outstanding mathematicians in this period and meet the condition of not more than 40 years of age. It is the highest honor a mathematician can receive.
The Fields Medal delivered, as I have said before, every 4 years in ICM (International Congress of Mathematicians). The 4 years ago (2006) was in Madrid and was famous for the medal gave Perelman and rejected it.
