History of the origin of mathematical symbols modification

  • The German mathematician Michael Stifel (1485 - 1567) in his Arithmetica Integra popularized the symbols "+ " and" - " displacing the signs" p "(plus) and" m " (Minus). According to the English mathematician Rey Pastor (1888-1962), the "+" and "-" was first used by the German scientist Widmann (1460-1498).
  • Recode Robert (1510-1558), English mathematician and physician, was the creator of symbol "=" , since for him, no two things more equal than two lines parallel lines.
  • The symbol known as "root" appeared for the first time in a German book of algebra, 1525. Prior to designate the root of a number, literally wrote "rai of ....". In short, it was simply used the letter "r", but when the numbers were large, stretched the same horizontal line, giving rise to the symbol we use today.
  • mathematician Francois Viète (1540-1603) was the first to use letters to designate the unknowns and the constants.
  • A Thomas Harriot (1560-1621) we owe the current signs "<" and"> " and use of " · " as a symbol for multiplication.
  • multiplication symbols " x "and division " " were introduced by the mathematician William Oughtred (1574-1660) in 1657.
  • The integral symbol was proposed by Gottfried Leibniz (1646-1716) and extracted from the Latin word "summa" taking your initial. A Leibniz owe many more signs notational, as "dx" and it was he who popularized the "·" as a sign of multiplication.

How many ways can address the issue of the bike without becoming monotonous, boring or heavy?

The more I know this world of wheels I'm amazed at the number of initiatives which can be powered and here in this blog have noticed many of them.

Now, I write about two short of a series called Love on wheels to be presented tonight by the team that participated in its realization.

is a coproduction between Film Studies Center of the UNAM (CUEC) and Institute for Transport Policy and Development (ITDP) big Shot Love wears red, led by Enrique Vázquez and Federico Cecchetti, CUEC graduates.

The two productions, which get only a snippet here, have love in the center of its plot but the bike is the driving force of history and, Indeed, what is sought with these videos is to promote cycling as an environmentally friendly means of transport.

The original idea of \u200b\u200bthe series is Eduardo Sepúlveda.

Shot In large, a man learns to ride a bike, despite the teasing and the pain of learning a late age, to approach his daughter. In Love wears red, a young employee of the bakery of a movie, fantasizes about an actress and one day finds her and continues on board, what else, a bicycle. Welcome

are both short and as you know where will be shown below, post it here.

Coke Health Concerns 2010

"Let's face it: the trunks of the trees are not cylinders, cones or mountains, clouds or areas, beaches or arcs or segments lightning straight, Euclid is not sufficient to understand the most common natural forms "

If science is the simplest way to understand the complex, then the fractal geometry of Benoit Mandelbrot is pure science. The researcher died Massachusetts (United States) on October 14, at 85 years.

This is the beginning of the article appearing today in the country and that you can finish reading if you click on the photo. Then I put some videos for you to understand a bit more than they are fractals, so wonderful that these figures are obtained by iteration of an algorithm.

I would like to go a little blog on all pupils in school 1, C and T, well, you would know a bit more to this great woman. For example, If you click on the picture of Hypatia, you can read the first blog entry, which will give a first idea. Then you can continue reading the other entries, especially the beginning.
addition that I put this video is quite interesting.

Salutatory Address For Elementary Graduates

again with you.

writes: Cornelivs.

The last entry in this blog post, friends, dated 2 February, eight months ago. After the misunderstandings and problems we are facing in their day, and "re-founding" of this blog, I chose to remain silent, and go into the background. True, the Manifesto was my idea originally and I pushed him, but I also said in his day that we needed new ideas, it was necessary the blog forward with new partners, new ideas, new projects.

I said and I repeat: anyone who, moved by this spirit of solidarity, wants to work with us, was, is and will always be very welcome. Every effort is low.

The next January 30 will mark the second anniversary of the Manifesto. Two years will we all, as one soul, we published it. The internet success was evident. Over two and a half million entries (at its peak) we counted. A wave of indescribable enthusiasm and optimism gripped many people: we in the press, different radio stations echoed ... Yes, all very nice.

But two years later ... there are thousands of innocent people still die of hunger daily.

What will happen from here on out? I do not know. I guess not. If you click on the tab on the right (history shows) you will see that when I started writing out many doubts haunted me because he knew what I faced: I was always aware that after initial success, then come the inexorable passage of time and the apparent failure of our cry of solidarity. As usual me and time seems right. What have we achieved? Is the world more united now than two years ago?

Unfortunately, no.

After light exposure of our beloved Fernando Manero on the Millennium Development Goals (the entry before this), I have little to add. Cornelivs is a flesh and blood like everyone else. I ignore almost everything. P ut one thing that I have clear, my friends: that despite all, is worth pursuing singing this song of solidarity, yelling loud and clear, screaming if necessary, everyone, and basically our political and international organizations!

We have to shake the consciences of men and women of good will! We have no choice. It's almost a moral obligation, an ethical obligation! Fear internet at our disposal: maximizing the opportunities that this medium gives us ...!

If only one not to keep silent complicity with the killers (default) for both innocent, if only to distance himself from them, and say: No! So no! Those millions of innocent brothers deserve our protection! We refuse to accept that a simple accident of geography cause here we throw what we surplus, while very close to us (at times, to the side) there are those who would kill for that extra!

And above all, refuse to save this cowardly silence makes us co-authors of this silent genocide. I un-not agree this, I do not agree with this homicilio silent: why I protest, so I fight, so I separate myself from this cowardly, silent and passive attitude, and scream loud and clear. If only to tell the world: if I cried out against it! I if I rebelled! Yes I protested!

And you, friend: Can you say that?

What are we gonna get us? Apparently, nothing. But perhaps, with courage, with faith in union and we can go further than we imagine.

finish, calling and inviting you all that you read these lines. Every one, without distinction of race, sex, creed, religion, ideology, ALL of S. That this fight is not just the struggle of a visionary named Cornelivs or a handful of friends who decided one fine day to accompany him: no. That is the struggle of every human being committed to this cause, which is the fight of all who read this blog. That is everyone's fight against hunger and suffering brother, fundamentally committed to the challenge every citizen who yells at their politicians and international organizations (which lead, ultimately, of this barbaric): ASI NO!

Again, and sorry for my insistence, this is an open blog. Therefore, any idea, any suggestion that selves help to walk this idea will be very welcome. All, and when I say all, I say ALL, you have been, are and be welcomed. I never tire of repeating.

A big hug for all y. .. mood! We have much to do.

Age Of Rise Of Rome Full Indir

a bit about the inventor of chess legend

Today I will tell the famous inventor of Ajedrez.Dice legend and history: the King of Persia dead boring at times, suddenly became fascinated by the game of chess, which presented a witty and clever inventor. It is said that he was so grateful that Eastern mathematician king offered what he wanted.
The inventor replied
- I'll settle for 1 grain of wheat for the first square on the board, 2 for second, 4 for third, 8 for fourth and so on until the box 64 of the board. (Ie the sum of the 64 first terms of a ratio PG 2 and whose first term is 1).
King taunted the minutiae thinking I was asking and asking his vizier to prepare the award requested, did the calculations and gave that it was impossible to enforce the order, as the sum of the grains of the 64 squares was nothing less than the amount of 18,446,744,073,709,551,616 grains (each kilogram of wheat fit 28220 about a grain, so that the result would be about 653,676,260,585 tons, which would occupy a cube-shaped deposit of more than 11.5 km squares. To produce such a quantity of wheat would need to be cultivating the Earth, including oceans, for eight years).
A second part of the story, which is the next king because of the embarrassment of having to accept that there was enough grain to pay, talk to other intelligent and witty man of his court for him to pull out of trouble and this he proposed the following:

- the inventor to see how generous you are, offer him not only the sum of the 64 first terms, but the sum of an infinite chess board.
To which the king said:

- You're crazy! If I have to pay what a normal chess board, as I do to extend the sum to infinity would be infinite grains ...

ingenious
But the assistant said

"Take me to the inventor of chess and trust me, everything will be alright !!!!:
Once assembled, the witty assistant will proposed to the inventor, that the king was so pleased and happy with the game of chess and was so generous, not only offered to give the sum of 64 squares, but the sum of the squares of a chess board infinity. To which, the inventor shrug accepted. And the king's aide went on to explain: Let's call
S = 1 +2 +4 +8 +16 +..... (The sum of the infinite grains of wheat board infinity). Now multiply by 2, so we will have 2 • S = 2 +4 +8 +16 +32 +.... Then subtract 2 • S - S = (2 +4 +8 +16 +8 +4 +2 +....)-( a +....) +16
thus, removing the parentheses , the summands of the second brackets change every sign and we are canceling the first parénteis that are positive and thus
we have that S = -1.
words: not only no longer had to pay the inventor, but he owed over a grain. Amazing is not it ?!!!!!!
Where would you say is the explanation for this problem? Well ..... I await your answers and I answer in a few days. And have no reward THINK!!
